BIKE: 25 miles; 1:19:30; 18.8 mph; 5:00 pm ...

LAST RIDE OF THE SEASON!!! Haven't been out on the bike for weeks and weeks due to spending most of my training time running my fitness project (Robbie), so it was totally awesome to get out on the ol' Cervelo one last time this season! I took it easy but still rode 19 mph, so haven't lost too terribly much since IMKS 70.3 on June 14th despite only a handful of rides since then. I was going to ride 30 miles but forgot about daylight savings time and ran out of daylight and had to call for a ride home when the bike shoulder lane terminated, I was wearing sunglasses, and I had no reflective clothing or lights (dangerous combination).

The weather was awesome, high 60's in the late afternoon.

I didn't think about the fact that you can't necessarily go out and ride 30, 40 miles after not riding regularly, and I had some very minor bursa discomfort on the inside left knee after 20 miles or so. Violation of the 10% rule is never wise, but I'm sure I'll be fine in this instance. IT WAS A GREAT RIDE.

FRIDAY (yesterday)

3.5 miles (approx); .5 mile intervals in Corporate Woods @ 6:00-6:30 pace (approx); 6:00 am

THURSDAY (the day before yesterday)

5.25 miles; 40:30; 7:43 pace; 3 loops around the subdivision; 6:00 pm

Went to see Paramore Wednesday night, so I "slept in," getting up at 6:15 am and ran at night. This was a great run, beautiful weather and I felt great. Robbie ran 2 loops in 28:00, so he's working his way down to 9 minute miles.

TUESDAY NIGHT Robbie and I went to the Olathe Y and swam a few laps to see if he can realistically do the indoor sprint triathlon on December 5th. Turns out he didn't know how to breathe during the crawl, and he was definitely winded after just a couple laps, but he picks up fast so maybe so. It'll be good exercise one way or the other. He'll need to do 20 laps in the 500 yd triathlon.

RUN: 32:00; 4 miles; 8 minute pace

I ran the first 2.5 miles in Corporate Woods. It was a little chilly, but Robbie wanted to continue using his new running gear. It's pretty snazzy for Wal-Mart! . I ran the last 1.5 miles on the treadmill, at the Antioch YMCA of course. Robert also ran a couple miles and this afternoon by text message informed me that he ran another 1.75 miles, one loop around the subdivision. He ran it with Jennifer, by her suggestion no less!

RACE REPORT ON SATURDAY'S 5K

Entry fee for three race participants, three T-shirts, three pancake breakfasts: $50

Prize for winning best costume: $50 and a T-shirt.

Yes, you read it right! We totally broke even on the Halloween 5K run by SACA in a Roe Park. Even better, the temperature was about 40° and no wind when it was forecasted to be 38° and 10 mile-per-hour winds. Just before "the cow" was declared the winner of the costume contest, we were enjoying pancakes on a sunny Saturday morning after running a free 5K!

Even better, Robbie got a PR: 32 minutes (his first 5K time was 36 minutes)!!!

Big Z also got a PR: 35 minutes (her last Harmony Elementary 5K in September was 36:45)!!!

MAN, I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!!!

 KICKBALL ON SUNDAY

Last but not least, we all played a big kickball game in our yard on Sunday afternoon, thereby adding to the damage control from the Halloween candy extravaganza!

WEIGHTS: Incline Bench 10x95 10x115 10x125; Dips 10x150 8x180 6x180; Pullups 10x150 (bodyweight) 7x150 5x150; Twisting Rope Crunches 30x150; Leg Extension 10x70 (better than nothing)

I'm continuing to be very cautious about returning to benching or increasing weights on account of my right shoulder issue. It seems to almost be resolving but I'm not taking any chances of this being an Ironman showstopper!

THE GLOWBASKERS: Until further notice, we are still the Freqamigos. However, while having a great little workout due to happily basking in the glow of my biggest idea this year, I came up with THE GLOWBASKERS. Hmmm ... interesting, positive, not offensively weird, and probably not already taken.

RUN: 22:45; 3 miles (8:15; 7:30; 7:00); very enjoyable run and got to work at 7:00 am.

This Monday started out best this year and perhaps of many before that. I was excited to share all the information, corroboration, and confirmation from VA along with all of the thoughts from this morning and the realization of 100% likelihood of success!!!
